Caroline Aaron and Larisa Oleynik Will Star in Los Angeles Premiere of Be A Good Little Widow

By Carey Purcell, 09 Apr 2014

Be A Good Little Widow, Bekah Brunstetter’s comedy about loss and longing, will make its Los Angeles premiere at the NoHo Arts Center beginning April 17.

Directed by Sara Botsford, the production will officially open April 18. The run will continue through May 25.

Be A Good Little Widow will feature Caroline Aaron (Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean; The Iceman Cometh), Larisa Oleynik (“10 Things I Hate About You,” “Pretty Little Liars”), Trey McCurley (The Goodnight Bird, “Echoes in an Empty Apartment”) and Donovan Patton (True History and Real Adventures, Our Town).

“Young wife Melody has never been to a funeral — until her husband dies in a plane crash,” press notes state. “Expected to instantly assume proper widowhood, Melody is left to wonder, what’s the right way to grieve? Fortunately, her mother-in-law is a professional. Widow, that is. Under her guidance, Melody must try her best to be a good little widow.”

The production will feature set design by Lacey Anzelc, lighting design by Dan Weingarten and sound design by Christopher Brown.

Be A Good Little Widow is being produced by Andrew Carlberg, Christopher Brown, Sara Botsford and Oleynik.

The NoHo Arts Center is located at 11136 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood. Call (323) 388-3874 or visit for more information.

This came out for rental this week, and I just watched it. I had no idea she was in it. Even though this is not a “Hollywood” movie I think this is definitely her most high profile role since the 90s. Her performance was good, although the character was not very likeable. I enjoyed the movie and thought it was much better than Part 1, although I would have preferred the original cast.

Ki’ilua – McGarrett finds himself in need of the Five-0’s help when he goes to North Korea with Jenna Kaye to deliver a ransom to rebels who are holding her fiancé hostage. Meanwhile, the Five-0 investigate the murder of an investigative reporter who seems to have ties to Jenna, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Monday, Nov. 21 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

 Another Hawaii Five-0 Death?

From William Keck of

Sounds like actress Larisa Oleynik may not be long for Hawaii Five-0. After being touted at the end of last season as a possible fifth member of the team, Larisa’s role has been majorly downgraded as new regular characters, including Terry O’Quinn (Lt. Joe White) and Lauren German (Lori), pick up the slack.

Now executive producer Peter Lenkov tells me an upcoming story arc will spell an end to Larisa’s tech-savvy character, Jenna Kaye, who (and this is me talking here) never quite clicked. “We’re wrapping up the Jenna story,” Lenkov says matter-of-factly. “She’s going to disappear from her life for a little bit and then come back into it in Episode 10 (likely airing November 21) for a very big story that’s going to be very McGarrett/Wo-Fat-centric. It has to do with the origins of McGarrett and takes us back to North Korea where we started in the pilot.”
